Dear Marlen, Where should I begin? I just want you to know that I really enjoyed your class. You made it so much fun and worth getting up at 5 in the morning to come. You made it so we weren’t sitting through a lecture but interacting with you. It was awesome that you took all of our opinions into thought and really cared what we thought as people. I a lot of other professors are not like that. It is their class room so it is there way. I also loved all the bonus you gave. The class was a ton of work but I seemed to handle it all really well. I got my stuff done and in on time. I really liked you making us make a poetry book. That was cool. We got to put all of our work together and hand it in for you to read and see what we have done. It was really cool to look back and see my first poem from my last and how I changed as a writer. I am so thankful for this experience and I feel that I am taking so much out of the class with me when this semester is over and I am on my way to the next college courses that I am taking in spring. It was well worth the aggravation of so much homework some nights when I wanted to do other things and could not because I was reading and writing poems for English. The only thing I can say for you to maybe change is the book reading. I am not so sure that I would choose Middlesex again and I also really did not care for Siddhartha. I do not have any other book in mind that you could use but I know that those two books I just could not get into. I did like watership down and the color purple a lot. They were great and I really could connect them to what we were learning in class and relate to them on some type of level. I also think that I have changed as writer. When I first started to write poetry I was like oh my god I really do not want to do this. As time went on I saw that it really was not that hard at all to write poetry if you just gave it a try. I like that I was able to express myself in your class. It makes me feel like you are the only professor who cares how his students think and feel. I am also glad that you made class worth attending. I want to thank you for helping me become a better student. You taught me that you have to work your ass off to be able to achieve something and actually feel it. I know how hard I worked this semester and that A I am getting in class feels so much better then just being handed to me. I am so glad I took your class and I am so glad that I got the opportunity to learn from you. I wish you the best of luck when traveling to your new school and all the changes ahead of you. I will not forget you. You are the only professor who has made such an impact on my education and for that I cannot say thanks enough. I am so glad that I took this journey with you and did not refuse the call. It has been an awesome journey. Best of Luck, Courtney Yankasky
